Light filtering through its branches,
Wise Oak is full and green
even as crunchy hints of autumn
litter the ground below.
“I wonder, Wise Oak,
how do you stand with such elegance
while on the brink of so much loss?”
The tips of Wise Oak sparkle and dance
as the wind blows through.
Wise Oak remains silent
encouraging me
to ponder the questions of my own life:
“How can I be more present to each changing season,
each moment, really?
How can I more clearly see the beauty around me
and discover it within me?
How can I notice all the suffering
without being overwhelmed?
How can I allow more spaciousness to my days
while still taking action?
What fullness might I savor?
What is it time to release?
What do you think, Wise Oak?”
Wise Oak quietly sways
inviting me
to listen more deeply to myself and the other trees.
How about you? What are you pondering these days?
