As I bike the Chicago lakefront path, I notice the black, gray, and white clouds swirling over the pale orange horizon. A few patches of bright blue sky are also emerging.
I stop to gaze at this spectacular sight and begin to notice the swirl of post-election thoughts and emotions in me.
Eventually, some questions begin to take shape:
– How do I continue to offer space for my own grief and the grief of others?
– How do I embody peace, joy, and hope regardless of the shocking election results?
– How do I help care for those most at risk in the days ahead: immigrants, trans folks, women, people of color…?
– How do I contribute towards healing our precious climate?
– How do I stay awake to the needs of my community (which is the entire world) and carefully discern: what is mine to do?
– Finally, how do I regularly make space to gaze at the beauty of the magnificent Chicago sky?
What’s swirling around in you these days? What questions are beginning to take shape?
With patches of hope,
Bridget
